The Move

We moved!

But not for the reason we were expecting…

So when we moved to Greenville, we looked for an apartment complex with the shortest available lease. We found a two-month option, with the intent on renting month-to-month after that. This is what we told the apartment managers upon signing the lease. A little before our lease was up, I told them we wanted to stay with the month-to-month living… nope. They rented our unit… a month agowithout telling us.

The next one bedroom wasn’t going to be available for two months, but a two bedroom was available immediately. We previously lived on the third floor, and we were moving on the third floor, in the building across the parking lot.

We both got home late Sunday and had to be moved out by Wednesday. I took Tuesday off from work and did as much as I could… down three flights of stairs… across the lot… up three flights; repeat. Times 20.

I took a break to go to the baseball game. Ya know, it’s actually been a while since I’ve been to one. I showed up an hour late, met a friend (!!!) and it was only in the third inning. Ha! Then the skies became black and blue, the wind started whipping, then the rain came. So much for my effort; I left.

Apparently it was only a rain delay and they continued playing. It sort of cleared up at home too, so I did a load of laundry and moved a couple of more loads of our stuff from one unit to the other until I gave it up for the night.

You know how scary it is doing laundry at night? Let me tell you: you walk in and there’s a timer light. Ticking, ticking… There’s a big window where a car pulled in and shined their brights through, and sat there for the entire time I was in there. When I was leaving, so did the car.

Mike got home at almost midnight from the 7:05 game. He retrieved our clean clothes from the dryer for me. And we watched our favorite little liars.

Wednesday morning I had to work at 10:30 am, so I got up earlier to move a few more things. *knock*knock*knock* The furniture movers were there, while Mike slept. “Mike, you need to get up, they have to take our bed.” He got up quickly, tore the covers off and came out, “I’m so pissed.”

We are renting furniture and they needed to move it so we didn’t damage it and Mike wouldn’t throw punches at it because he hated our situation. “Um, we are on the third floor… over there…” The movers threw their heads back “Aww man!” Yeah, sorry.

As they finished up, the cable guy came, I had to leave for work and Mike would go a few hours later. We moved in and everything was in our new place but scattered. I had hopes that Mike would start putting his clothes away, maybe make the bed (only because I figured he’d take a snooze)… but I also imagined him playing MLB The Show and watching PLL. I was optimistic.

I wouldn’t see him again because they left for a road trip after their game that night. I arrived home from work around 12 and texted him on my way out, “Everything go okay today? Did you at least make the bed for me? :)”

He responded, “Yes, everything good. No, I got too tired and lazy.” Poor thing.
