Home and Away

This weekend was my sister’s bachelorette party weekend in St. Augustine. Wouldn’t ya know it, that it rained and/or was cloudy the entire weekend? Mrs. Future had 6 gals gather there as sort of a center meeting spot. I drove with her Maid of Honor Friday morning and we went back Sunday afternoon. I think she (my sister) had a really good time… except for about 2 AM Sunday morning when she had an up-close view of the porcelain throne. Nothing a visit to Cracker Barrel the next morning didn’t cure.

When I both left and arrived back home, Mike wasn’t there- he was on a 7-day road trip. Didn’t pitch a single pitch! His arm has been bothering him… I mean, I think that’s typical for a pitcher, but it was getting to the point of unbearable pain. Mike is tough, but when it gets to the point that he says something, I believe it’s pretty bad. Now that he’s a bit better, the staff is still babying it some.

I went back to work on Monday and was only supposed to work in the morning. But when the manager asked me to work an event that night for a Big-Wig gas station owner guy, I thought about my alternate plans………… didn’t take me long. None. So I said ye$$ to the “girl’s only” staff event.

Mike got back late Monday, like 3 AM, even though he should have arrived closer to 2 or 2:30 (what a psycho keeping track of that…) Later I found out he and a teammate went to two different WalMarts to try to track down a newly-released video game with no luck.

We both had Tuesday off (yay!) so first, we went to the mall and, yes, GameStop. “Do you have an account with us?” I love when they go through all that because the very first time I went to GameStop with him, he said “Nah, I don’t.”

Gamer staff: “Okay, what’s your phone number? … oh, Michael, it looks like you do have an account with us.”

Then I played it like, oh what does the card do for you?

Gamer staff: “You can get cool belts, and shirts and updates on new releases, (etc., etc.)”

Mr. Cool tries to play it off like he’s not saving his points for PS4 flip-flops or anything. Psshh! We even spotted one of his teammates leaving the mall with a GameStop bag buying the same game.

Then we went to the Greenville Zoo!!! We’ve been trying to go for weeks and today was our day! It was an inexpensive ticket in, but a nice little zoo. It took us all of one hour to go through the entire place, without hurrying. We saw one boring elephant, lots of noisy and active monkeys, lemurs, birds, reptiles (snakes, lizards and even giant cockroaches… gross!), three giraffe, some goats, chickens and a pot-bellied pig (yes, farm animals at a zoo), and our favorite- the orangutans. Those guys- probably a dad and son, we thought- were wrestling and swinging around with each other. We stood there watching for 15 minutes just laughing.

The other animals we liked were some sort of monkey (pictured above with ombre hair) we kept throwing grass at. They were reaching outside their cages with their human little hands so we helped them out a bit. They loved us!

We rented a few movies from RedBox and watched The Amazing Spiderman while eating a home-cooked meal (by me, let’s be real…). He asked me last week if I'd see the new second one with him, then went to go see it with his boys. Boo! Then I did some adult chores like dishes and laundry, while the little boy played his video game and commentated it for me.

Oh, and “the war?” It’s still going on. He said one time a week ago, “So how long are you going to keep turning the toilet paper?” Um, until you realize I have it the right way. Today it has been flipped and flipped back about 6 times already…. Kids!
