Home Opener!

Thursday! Another great day!
I woke up before Mike (surprising?) and thought I'd made him a nice breakfast before the big home opener! I made a sort of fritatta, with sweet potato rounds on the bottom, then eggs with onion, garlic and zucchini chopped up, bacon crumbled in and some shredded cheese and then baked it for a few minutes. (I put that full grocery cart to good use!) Bagel for him, coffee for me!
While I was in the middle of making the bacon, all greasy and smokey, I heard a knock! knock! knock! at the door. Mike was sitting on the couch doing nothing and said, "Sloane will you get it?" No! I'm in the middle of something. "Please, I don't want to see anyone! Sloane, they knocked again, hurry!" I washed my hands, annoyed at this little boy, went to the door and there stood a lady holding a vase full of beautiful pink lillies and roses.
"Are you Sloane, by any chance? I smell bacon." Yes and yes! Mike asked me who they were from...I opened the card and it was signed "Love, Mark." Uh... er... I promise I can't explain. "This is supposed to say 'Mike,' right?!" What a guy!! He sent me flowers for getting the apartment all set up, never complaining or asking for help, for being there with him when he knows it's probably hard for me. Sweet!
Anyway, enough of that mushy stuff. Mike went to the field and I had orientation for my job. Paperwork, tour, rules, etc. etc. Then, the fun stuff- Greenville Drive Home Opener!!!
Thursdays apparently are "Thirsty Thursdays," where beer is $1. What a great night out- you pay $5 for general admission (not me, har har!), $1 for beers... a fairly cheap night out vs. going to a bar or club.
Anyway, it was pretty packed at this gorgeous field. I found myself sitting next to the team's Chaplin and we spoke about the team and the city for a while. I'm not sure if he was judging me for "living in sin," as they say with Michael.
I left early because it was cold and I was hungry, but they ended up winning 7-6 in extra innings. Woo!
They have another game tonight, and one of the guys asked Mike if his girl can sit with me. Am I going to be like, the girlfriend host of the team? Because I believe I'm the only girl that came with a guy- even the married one left his woman back at home!!
I'm going to miss the game because I start training at my new job tonight! (Mike didn't play last night or tonight) Great... Friday night at a sport's bar/restaurant... shouldn't be crazy at all... One of the good things, though, is that it's right down the street from the field, so if I get done early, I can walk down and catch the rest of the game!
